Built for the Blaslov Fishing Group, ‘Nansi’ was launched on the 26th of January, 2002, and will be operated towing Tuna cages and tending the company’s tuna farms out of Port Lincoln in South Australia.

Based on ‘Markane’, ‘Nansi’ has been adapted to suit the Blaslov Group’s Requirements.

A bulbous bow has been added to increase performance and see keeping qualities, and the wheelhouse re-sited 1 metre aft, along with a second Thrustmaster 73kW thruster added aft to provide greater manoeuvrability. Under deck accommodation space was reduced in length to accommodate a 10 tonne freezer room. Deck height at the bow was reduced by 300mm at the owner’s request, thus reducing the sheer in the fore deck, and increasing the flair.

The main engine is a Caterpillar 3412C developing 530kW at 1,800 rpm, with a Twin Disc MG5202 gearbox of 6.11:1 coupled to a four-bladed skew plan Veem propeller.

‘Nansi’s’ deck space is copious with a Hiab 300-AS crane on deck to facilitate lifting, moving cages and other goods. ‘Nansi’ has four brine tanks providing 78 tonnes capacity for live bait as well as a 10 tonne freezer room with chiller system installed by CM Heithersay.

The air-conditioned and attractively furnished wheelhouse is well equipped and functional, with the Danta woodwork lending a most traditional touch. Commanding views are almost all round, enabling the skipper to keep a close eye on the tow/working area at all times.

The vessel appears tough and seaworthy, performing well on sea trials, and achieving 10.5 knots.

On close inspection, Justin Nelligan says that “overall, the resulting vessel would appear to have well justified their faith in the Peter James / Adelaide Ship Construction International combination, and the vessel will be proceeding to Port Lincoln almost immediately to begin work.

Accommodation is provide in 2 well appointed cabins allowing for up to 6 crew in comfort.

The team at Adelaide Ship Construction International are continuing their established tradition of producing vessels that catch the eye and do them great justice. Vessels from Purse Seiners to Tow/Feeder and Tuna boats are now at sea fishing, and meeting their satisfied owner’s expectations.
